Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC)

The landscape and irrigation of this project was initially installed in 2002. The project design + plant palette were a typical lawn and common tree type landscape for a school project.Based on the concepts prepared by Environs for sustainable landscapes, all of the lawn was removed, an outdoor classroom was detailed and implemented and the landscape areas were contoured for retention and infiltration, the soil analyzed and amended to optimize the conditions for the new plant materials and the latest technology of irrigation was design and installed.
Other improvements that required attention were addressed concurrently with this project to resolve drainage, circulation, site line visibility and Public Right of Way hazards. The project completely changed the image of what a school campus should be, and provides the staff the opportunity to teach the upcoming generation about the environment, water conservation + sustainability.
